Why Zika Corona Virus Is a Good news for Condom manufacturers?
Just as the coin has both sides, different groups has different understanding of Zika and corona virus. Zika virus has caused a lot of problems worldwide, from Brazilian politicians forced to deal with worried Olympic athletes to pregnant women faced with an increased risk of birth defects if they’re infected. But there is one group that stands to benefit from the worldwide spread of the disease, that is the condom makers mainly located at Thailand, Malaysia, China, Japan, Germany and Korea.
As the world’s largest condom manufacturer, Malaysia’s Karex Berhad factory, which makes about 10% of the condoms sold on the planet, director told the Wall Street Journal that the disease will cause a jump in condom sales. “The awareness that such a virus brings will further bolster long-term growth prospects of condom demand overall,” Goh said. The company, which produces about 4 billion condoms annually, won’t see a big jump immediately, Goh said, because most of its condoms are sold to brands like LifeStyles and Durex. (USAID is also a client, they mainly supply to African market.) But investors think it will come in time: The condom company’s stock price is up almost 10% since the beginning of September.
Condoms themselves do not prevent the coronavirus or zikavirus, since both virus is not spread by having sex. However, condoms and dental dams reduce contact with saliva, and it give consumers trusts that they will be protected when they hangout.
Condom will protect us from the virus such as Zika, not only prevent the pregnancy. So that’s why condom sales will booming when virus spread into each groups, consumers want more protection.
